Shimano Charter Special 1000 Braid Help

Post by mako »

Was out fishing six mile area last sunday and some unseen monster made off with braid and backing from my shimano charter special 1000.
Now Shopping for new braid. If anyone is using the same reel with just braid, would they please specify what braid they are using: brand, type, breaking strain, capacity, and where to purchase. Would like to have at least 300 yards of braid. Thanks.

Hey mako... I usually use 50lb Finns braid.. Good for the reefies as well as the big Jews, go see Ron at fishing outdoor world in cavanagh st, he'll give you what you need.

I agree 50lb finns will catch almost anything up here in my experience, 30lb is most cases is enough

I have used finns for years and love it.
I tried the cheap ebay stuff and never again. It doesnt last, breaks much easier when least expected.
50lb is good enough
let the reel do the work for you

just go with 30LB FINNS

anything but finns wont cut the mustard.
any of the tackle shops in town will spoool yuor reel for you from a bulk spool.
you will only pay for what you use.
