Rip'n'Tear - I followed this post with a very keen interest.
The AllBright knot tows the table across the veranda and pulls the boat into the mangroves for getting the bad cast lure back.
Cheers to Dannett for his opinion
I cant see a need for anything else....... yet

Yep, that’s what I reckon, but I’m a bit set in my ways (read: old c$&t!). I fully understand the reasons behind using the FG, and agree with them, but I’m too lazy to spend the time perfecting it and aren’t willing to risk losing a trophy fish to my mis-tied knot.NinjaFish wrote:Rip'n'Tear - I followed this post with a very keen interest.

Actually had it happen to me when I first learnt the Albright 20 years ago, lost a fish that would have been 90+ in fly creek on my first ever culvert adventure. Proceeded to watch it free jump, trying to dislodge the lure. Safe to say I went home and practiced the cr.p out of that knot!
Oh, and I haven’t hooked a fish in that friggen culvert since!

FG for me too, once I got the hang of it you can tie it pretty quick as well and never catches on the guides.

Re: Leader knots
Brus Slim Beauty all the way. Smallest strongest knot when tied well. 30 or 40 lb braid and 60 lb leader is the way to go.

Re: Leader knots
FG is actually stronger than pretty much all the braid to leader knots, I find. A lot of the other knots have 'choking points' where they tend to sinch and break much sooner than the FG.
