Take a bit of line off you reel mate. Usually sorts the problem. I use fins 20lb and hardly ever get a wind knot.

Panam, if you are a very patient man in your knot tying the go to knot is the FG Knot. Unbelievable!!! It is all I use and well worth the effort. There is no knot in the mono leader at all, just a weaving of braid around the mono that effectively fuses itself onto the mono. The braid will always break before there is a failure in the knot.

It glides through the runners and I use a 7-8ft leader on my spin rods and a 12 ft leader on my bait casters, casts off the spool. No wind knots and after changing lures all weekend (I don't use clips) and cutting the leader back after rough ups from fish you still have a 4-6ft leader. Takes about 6-8mins to tie, but well worth it.

Cheers, Doors Off
