I've always liked the taste and texture of Mulloway or Jewfish, steak of the ocean I call it
Simply cooked with a bit of smoked paprika and salt and milled pepper in tasty butter
Was very surprised that they had no real commercial value until around 1981 due to the fact the meat shrunk so much when cooked
The past is history, the future is mystery, the moment is a gift and that's why it's called the present

A nice fillet of chrome plated gulf barra, lightly dusted with flour & simple seasoning, cooked on a hot barbie plate with a bit of butter
pretty hard to beat the salties :drinking8:

Good topic. I've gone from goldie to red emperor to coral trout up here or KG whiting down south but a 60cm salt water barra is still a contender in my book. People say they are over rated but I don't agree

1. Blue eye trevalla
2. Red emperor
3. King George whiting
4. Gummy shark
5. Stripey trumpeter
6. Long snouted boarfish
7. Golden snapper
8. Black Jew fish
9. Coral trout
10. Tasmanian trevally

Obviously growing up as a professional fishing family I have tasted some great fish.
