Defloating a boat

Post by barrajames »

I'm in fella's, since I'm on holidays at the moment I can lend a hand after thursday. Is there a boat aquired to tow the beast out there yet? Lobster might be good for it, he has experience towing potential FAD's....

Forget Church and doing your laundry!!!!!! it's a FAT time at the FAD time.

Working bee session on the FAD#2 is on this Saturday from 1600 to sunset. I'll put on beers for after the hard work is done.

Address is Blue Point Fabrications 660 Stuart Hwy Berrimah. Access is from the rear of the yard via Vigilant Lane(behind Harvey Norman).

List of essentials that will be needed -

sledge hammers
power leads
long ladders
safety ropes/harnesses
utes or truck to remove rotten timber and debris
water pump(think 2 rods is bringing his)
paint(anything but white) and brushes to paint letters sides of hull
concrete drilling gear(install bungs and tow point)
silicon/sikaflex
timber planks to make a platform to stand on while under tow.

The hull is very high off the ground, anyone working on the top really should have a safety rope on.

I can't make it on the day but I have a 20 m wire tow rope you can have and I can also loan any other rigging you may need, slings, shackles, chain blocks, come-alongs etc, etc, etc.
I also have a safety harness and lanyard that can be borrowed if there is any concern about working at height. It's my own personal harness so please take good care of it.

Gents,

Sell paint brushes & power tools for a living so can supply plenty of both, particularly big drills for concrete. With any luck may also be able to get scaffold system to 4mt if required. Got a ute too. Currently in Kununurra but back home tomorrow night (Thursday). Let me know what's needed.

MELV if you can supply some scaffolding it would make it just so much safer for us all.... the hull is nearly at the full extension of my big double ladder so 4mtrs should do it easy.....

as for paint ... if everyone was to bring a spray can we should be fine (bunnings $2.00)

There is a bloke down the road with a skip bin business .. I will ask him if he can donate a bin for the weekend.... don't know how I will go but you never know until you ask a
