Sorry for the newbie question, but would a 5.5m boat reach the rig safely or does it get rough out there this time of year? Can it be unpredictable?

Thinking of giving Monday morning a go.

Thanks

A 5.5m boat would be fine in good conditions, but the question is like 'how long is a ball of string?', as trawlers can sink on a bad day.

I suggest going only when the forecast is ideal. Always good to have a second boat along too.

I'd go at first light, fish the morning and miss the arvo winds. I've done it many times in my 6m centre console but I'm comfortable in doing that myself. Incoming tides and a bit of movement walkways seems to work out there

I would watch the wind readings for 3-4 days in the harbour. Find out when the wind drops off and for how long. Put this together with wind predictions that are expected. The morning you wish to go check the radar for storms. I went a couple of months ago at 2am and back by 7am. Glass both ways. Blowing 15kts by 10am. Smashed big macks

Thanks for the advice guys! I've kept my eye on seabreeze over the last few days and I'm thinking tomorrow morning could make for a smooth morning trip.

Has anyone been out over the weekend? What was the water like?

If anyone is going tomorrow, could I tag along in my boat? I don't know too many people up here.

Cheers
