King Sound girl

Post by Kimberlite »

This is a 118cm I landed from the West side of King Sound across from Derby.

A very productive hole near the mouth of the Fitzroy and the beauty of it is that the only access is by chopper or a 5 day wait in a boat from spings to neaps.

My mate drops me off on the mudback at a nearby creek up a dead end with a cast net and he then musters the popeye mullet up to me with the chopper.

1 throw and we have enough bait for the session.

My mates got it all worked out.

Leaves the chopper based in Derby over the wet while he travel o/seas.

Come March leaves the business in Peth to the son in law and then heads north. Spends from March until September travelling between the Kimberley and the Cape with him in the chopper and mum driving the F250 and offroad caravan.

Usually spends a few weeks with me each year, parks his chopper out the back and its just a matter of jumping in and 20 mins later throwing a line out.

Badly want one myself but are just way too expensive to run.

I offered to mind it for him over the wet but for some reason he said no!

Unfortunately I have no pix of the bait mustering as I had a net in my hand and Lenny was flying. It is easily the best way to net popeyes as anyone who has tried from the shore or a boat will know it is damn hard work!

The hole is between the Fraser and the mouth.
