East Point Bream

Post by matto1964 »

Just a quick one for the landbase fisho's. My youngest Adelle (10yrs old) with a very nice Bream :fishy: taken on a very lightly weighted squid head.
It was taken off the beach using her lil shimano outfit rigged with 4kg mono.
She was very proud of herself, seen as though she caught the biggest fish of the day. :catch:

Mate,

top bream and great to see the kids outfishing Dad. Looks like that fish is on holidays from down south, not our normal plate shaped Pikey with fins. Well done.

Looks like a yellowfin bream, I have never seen one caught in Darwin before. Well done

Down in Adelaide we caught black bream, in Brisbane mostly yellowfin bream, and a few tarwhine.

Anyone else caught yellowfin bream in Darwin? Maybe they are quite common.

Another interesting fact - they stocked yellowfin bream in Lake Awoonga (freshwater). I think they disappeared.

I thought the same time about the yellow fins, maybe tourists arn't the only things that visit East Point. Surprising enough it was taken of the beach just next to pee wee's on the point as well. Be good to hear if anyone else has landed similar?

Nah i've caught plenty of pikeys at that very same beach but never a yellow fin.
Great beach for bream in the dry season, especially if you berly them up a bit.
plenty of whiting there too.

We were using a lightly weighted dead bait, squid head, just letting it soak in the water and wash around in the tide. :catch: I myself was flicking rubbers at the time hoping for a fish like Adelle caught!! :fishing: :banghead:
