first goose hunting trip for 1rod

With the weather set to blow all weekend I decided to can our Saturday fishing trip with 1rod and thought it was about time he came out hunting :grin:

Now it took a bit to convince mrs 2rods that it was all safe but after roping in Dodgy and greg into coming out as well the wife relented and gave us the nod :mrgreen:

As far as goose hunting goes it was very slow... with not many birds about but it did give me the chance to drum some safety info into the young bloke......VERY important.

To his credit he didn't winge or nag to go home which is a feat for any 4 year old....he ran out and picked up the birds after the all clear was given....and was keen as to gut them ect.

Anyway here are some pictures......Note the gun is unloaded and open.! and we are all VERY safety aware...before anyone complains :smile:

well done 2rods, I have taken my kids out huntting a few times now and they love it - the youngest is 3 and the oldest is 7 and they enjoy honking to call the geese over. and picking them up when they fall.

Lucky bloke is getting a good start to life. I bet he remembers all these trips in his older years - I know I remember mine.

Got to start them off with easy stuff though, like "go get the bird".

Later on this can progress to "clean the boat". :wink:
