Caught red handed!

Post by BarraBeast »

Well people, I messed up on Friday night. :hunting: That's me needing to be shot!!.

I bought 10 new pots and didn't realise there was 4 tiny strings tied to the drop down flaps. These pesky little strings kept the pots entry points open for the crabs to walk freely in and out all night and half the next day!

At 0100 on Saturday morning, I couldnt sleep. I noticed the night before while out on my mountain bike at 0200(looking for dingo's :hunting: ) the harbour was like glass. So I backed down the ramp at 0100, looked at the tide! HOLY S*&*&& it's only 1m at 0100 ahhhh. Plopped the boat in the puddle at the bottom of the ramp and parked the car. Well, after frailing around in the mud like a epileptic mudskipper for 10 minutes I got into the main channel.

Moon was full, harbour was like a mirror. Rocketted over to Woods and tra la la had a hoot singing to myself, loading pots and swigging Captain Morgan rum in near darkness 8-)

Went past a yacht up near the end. they must have thought , ahh nice place to sleep for the night, then RAWRRRR!! the beast comes skimming past!! servers ya right for trying to get a peacefull nights sleep in the harbour where the nocturnal Barrabeast roams!

Next day went back only 2 crabs and my deckie quickly pointed out the little strings. Does anyone else know about these. Haven't pruchased new pots in many years, they must have done it at the factory. :bonk:

Anyway...here's some shots of a croc making off with my pot. Cheeky mungrel. It was hilarious to see the float skiing across the creek then the croc popped out. I gave the float a tug and he took off. length about 2.5m.

Did you fix him up Beast?

Wonder how many people blame other fisherman for pilfering their pots after the crocs have a go at them.

Hooked a six foot saltie on my Baitrunner on Sunday when it took my mullet I had out. At least he left our crabpots alone after that
