Daz12 Fotofish 2026

Post by Daz12 »

For something a bit different. Recently spent a couple of weeks riding around Tassie on my motorbike with a mate from Adelaide. Of course had to throw a rod in....Did a bit of flicking at Lake Lea near Cradle Mountain, Arthurs Lake in the Great Lakes Area and a bit at Lake Leake on the east Coast.
No success but I did see and have a hit on a brown Trout at lake Lea.

Nice pix.

You're not alone with the lack of luck, not the best fishing in Tasmania at the moment for a variety of reasons.

Looks like the NT is getting Tassie's rain.

Well that's some consolation Matt 😁

Little culvert run today with Richie Boy along the Arnhem highway. Managed about half a dozen Barra and a couple of Tarpon. Plenty of baitfish of various sizes at most of the culverts. Heaps of people out and about having a fish which was great to see.

Good work, and yes, the Adelaide River floodplain culverts were busier than Casuarina when I drove through there on Sunday!

Trip to the South for an overnighter. Plenty of fish on the sounder but not on the chew. Got smashed by a thunderstorm early in the morning but thankfully had the tarp set up. Last ditch effort trolling back to the ramp and a prime condition fat 80 took a liking to the Raptor.

Overnighter to the Wildman. Tough fishing but one good fish can make a trip!
Dodged through the 25 boats at the mouth of Shady on the way and within 20 minutes trolling in the Wildman latched onto a 101cm.
However, that was pretty much it, except for finding a school of nice size Threadies out the mouth. Picked one up on a vibe.
Beautiful conditions both days. Didn't even have to put the tarp up!

Trip out to Bynoe in perfect dry season weather. Found a nice school of Barra sitting at the mouth of a creek and snagged half a dozen while losing about the same. Had the pots in and finished it off with 4 nice bucks
