Old member returning

Post by BarraMack »

I've been on a 15+ year hiatus from this forum. I used to be reasonably active on here back in 2006-2008 but then kids came along, and the boat sat in the yard slowly deteriorating. My middle son, now 14, is a keen fisho and decided to restore the boat with some help from his mates. Six months later, the boat is back on the water, with a new Yamaha 60 4-stroke, a new floor, bimini, and proper electrics. Of course, the project is far from finshed, but he can get a job at Maccas and save up for the rest of the fitting out e.g. electric motor etc.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to get in line to go out on the boat now that he wants to take all his mates out.

We took the boat to Manton on Wednesday to run in the motor and he went out today chasing Queenies in the harbour. Maybe tomorrow I will show him some of my East Arm spots.

Having to back down Dinah Beach ramp today when it was busy was a bit   , as I'm a bit rusty after all these years.

Good to be back, I see a few of the old names are still kicking around.

Good to hear of the renewed interest in fishing, with family involvement.

Forum is quieter these days, lots of page views at times but people tend to post fish catches on FB, Insta etc.

Given how sh..ty the big sites are becoming it might turn around one day.

Hope you catch some fish soon with your son, early success will cement interest.

Thanks for the welcome fellers. The internet was certainly very different when I l was last posting here. Social media was in its infancy.

The lad is really into his fishing and boating. He's gone out enough time with mates in their boats that he has hit the water running with ours. They were chasing pelagic stuff yesterday around the harbour and caught some decent fish. I'm looking forward to doing some decent fishing with him (barra up creeks and on the flats) once we get an electric motor.
