Last Thursday was another great day on the water with the young bloke. I'll let him post his fish.

After having such a great day on Thursday we headed back out on the Friday to see if we could repeat it, but with only 0.2m of movement it was very quiet and we just got the one barra.

I headed out on Sunday with the missus and the boys and almost needed to be towed home. The motor didn’t miss a beat on the way out but as soon as I slowed down at the mark it cut out and wouldn't start again. Well at least we got to the mark, so we dropped the lines whilst we investigated the motor and sure enough, I had 2 jewies (115 & 118cm) in about 10mins. We checked all the fuses and connections and couldn't find anything wrong. We ruled out fuel as it had run fine until we slowed down. Anyway, I finally got it started by using the hand throttle, however every time I backed it off it cut out. In the end I left it running for about 15mins and then I could back off the hand throttle so that I could get it into gear. Long story short we got home and it has now been diagnosed as being the ideal controller and there is a new one on its way from Sydney.

I did a shady run a couple of weeks ago with the young bloke, it wasn't ideal tides and it was pretty tough going. We lost a couple of good fish and only managed a few average Threadies.

Late last month we did a 3 day Channel point trip, the weather wasn't great so we couldn't fish the spots we wanted to. We mainly tried to stay protected by the islands and manage to keep a few fish away from the sharks.

84 from the bay last night on suspending hard body stalled on its face. Bit slower than usual thanks to the two rookies on my boat spooking everything.

Cheers

Few from last night. We ended up with 76,76,81,94 and couple dropped. Also mate hooked large grouper on active which was fun would of gonna bit over 1.5m. when reviewing footage realised I missed the fish breaching you can only see the splash it makes at end of fight when leader rubber through. Very good feat considering he was using 30lb Barra gear with 55lb leader.
Unfortunately the 94 was gut hooked as it swallowed a 6inch plastic, single got it in the stomach with only stinger to be seen at entrance of throat. With next to no chance of survival the 94 came home with us.

Cheers
