Been getting in a bit of hunting before the weather gets to hot, new howa 243 with an mdt field stock

Nice rifle, hope it shoots as well as it looks. I bought a .17hmr a while back, shoots straight but it's so bl..dy loud for a tiny calibre, I went back to .22 subsonics for shooting small stuff around the farm.

We have deer around so .243 might be the next calibre here.

Been using 70grn ammo and getting around 1 inch groups , got a couple of boxes of 90grn to try out, think they would be better for pig's and deer.

PS. Hard to find but Aguila make a powderless 22 round called Colibri , nice and quiet for around home, cane toads don't like them. Colibri are 420fps and Super Colibri are around 560fps

Will have a look for them.

All the deer I've seen here except for one have been small. Not big numbers in the south, but I suspect they are picking up.
