Tasmania's $10k tagged fish competition

Post by Matt Flynn »

Tasmania's $10k tagged fish competition is five tagged trout worth $10k each.

Great to see a tagged fish promotion for Tasmania, but the listed lakes are big waterbodies - for example, the single tagged trout in Lake Pedder will be in a 242 square kilometre area.

According to the news story there will be just five fish available across the state.

To compare, the NT's annual tagged fish promo has 100 x $10k barramundi and a $1m prize, of which several tagged fish are eligible for the $1m. And many other prizes. The waterways in the NT are also smaller, so the odds are better.

Would have been good to see Tasmania's salmon farm companies contribute some extra tagged fish prizes to this new promo, as they are making squillions out of the island's waters and it would have been a chance to give something back.

Nonetheless, good to see a new promo. Hopefully it will develop.
