Looking forward to some rain, it's been stinking hot in the garden!

Headed s/se towards interior.

Looks like CQ will miss out this year again unless there's a dramatic change of patterns in Feb/March.

These highs in the Tasman Sea seem to be generally reaching up further towards the equator these last couple years and blocking the lows in our part of the world.

What we have noticed from recruitment castnet surveys though is apparent earlier barra spawning (mid-August we reckon). Either that or the growth rates are exceeding 2mm/day (never found before).

Barra in n/east Carpentaria (Weipa area) sex change to females earlier (smaller sizes) than other places in Qld.

Maybe higher growth rates bring on earlier sex changes for barra.

Not sure what effect that'll have here if true..
Regards

The low was a big disappointment, still three months to go

Weipa and the Cape was getting some good rain a couple of weeks ago.
