Re: Fireworks at driest time of year
Lets face it, these days, cracker night is strange at any time,
i grew up in the era when anyone could buy crackers and set them off, anywhere/anytime
the results were lots of damage and fires around the place but there were also lots of injuries - that's why they cancelled it everywhere else, but the NT continues to hold it
I used to love watching those on struggle street spend our hard earned $ on crackers in darwin but they couldnt afford food rent etc
then to top it off, they were so hyped up that they just couldnt wait until the sun had actually set of let rip - such pretty colours in daylight - NOT
Every year we get the calls to ban it but until someone important suffers damage or injury, it will continue.
