Have NT jewfish stocks recovered?

Post by Matt Flynn »

Northern Territory jewfish stocks are back up to 60%+ of the original resource, NT Fisheries says.

They say management measures taken a few years ago have been a success. The measures included several reef closures.

Do you agree that NT jewfish stocks have recovered greatly?

Yes I think so because I haven't been out hunting them for over a year ,,, Bwahaha,

Also hear a few more good size catches lately , seems a few more around in the harbor as well .

Seems to be plenty of good jewfish catches on social media, but some people saying Charles Point still not much good.

Here's an earlier poll thread on the reef closures from June 2018, a few interesting comments ... fishing-polls-f10101/have-the-nt-reef-c ... 88-15.html

I think Matt alot of people haven't tried Charles point enough. A mate and I have found fired well on certain tides and moon. Have also found more numbers early dry season but larger fish later in the dry for Charles point.

Good info. Only chased jewies on wrecks myself, caught mostly goldies, cod etc on other grounds.
