What agm battery are you running
Hey guys looking at upgrading my optima battery as it doesn't have enough AH to run my Minn kota for a long period when the wind is up.
Im tossing between the century agm 105ah
Or the power crank agm 110ah .
Has anyone ran them and do they last. Or what type of battery are you running and how long have you had it for.
Thanks guys.

Odyssey batteries have a big rep in the USA bass market. There is an Aussie distributor but I don't know who sells them up north.

Whatever you decide to get make sure that its a REAL deep cycle battery.
Mostly the ones on offer to unsuspecting users are simply cranking or marine (hybrid type) batteries.
If the battery advertising blurb even hints at CCA cranking amps, dual purpose or marine avoid it as it wont be a real deep cycle.
Been many a keen boatie sucked in by a distributer.
I've had a 120ah Chinese deep cycle for 3 years and charge it on a smart charger NOT a standard charger.
Unless you end up with a lithium ion battery (expensive) but they can be discharged to max levels (70% or more unlike a standard lead acid AGM type of 50%). Quicker to charge too.
Remember that you are NOT looking for power, high cranking amps etc for what you want to use the battery for.
You might find the attached useful...

Re: What agm battery are you running
Not all ebay batteries are dodgy.
Beware ANY dodgy batteries and there are heaps out there from some supposedly reputable manufacturers.
This is the AGM that I use (only a 120AH version). Its a true deep cycle.
Approx $365 delivered to Darwin.

Hey Ronje or anyone else with the Eclipse 130AH 12V AGM Deep Cycle Battery.
Is it still going strong?
Anyone else got any recommendations?
Cheers

my particular batteries wouldn't suit your situation but i find fullriver to be a very good brand. i have 4 x 6 volt 400 amp hour jobs as my house batteries. again those batteries no use to you but i can vouch for the brand

Re: What agm battery are you running
I run 2 x135 ah power AGM on my MG and get them from battery power centre. Ask for a good price and the will give them cheaper than I&O. Using them for the last 5 years. Be carefull not to overcharge with big amp chargers. I use timers to control the charging which works well.
how many is enough lures, rods and reels. Is there a magic number, considering you usually only catch 1 fish on a single lure on the one rod and reel your casting with.

Re: What agm battery are you running
The only real thing to make sure about Rawz is that you get a fair dinkum deep cycle one. There are quite a few batteries that are claimed to be but aren't. Be wary of any that are described as "dual purpose", "hybrid" or "marine" as they are not deep cycle. If the battery has any indicators like cca or cranking stamps on it, avoid it.
