My bro in law chases them as bait and uses the small opera house pots and puts dry cat food as bait.
ive only ever caught them in fresh but im sure google will have more details

Boil potatoes for about 10 mins. Best bait. They don’t attract crocs or any other wildlife. I have had pythons and goannas dead in pots baited with fish carcasses and they don’t stink after a day in the water.

I'll be extra careful... don't mind the snakes and stuff we get down here, but those crocs always make me edgy! If I manage some... or latch on to a fish, I'll post it up.
