New NT fishing tidal waters access arrangements

Post by Matt Flynn »

This is a sticky post with important information for people who fish NT waters.

The Northern Territory has new tidal waters access arrangements, announced on March 1, 2021, by the Northern Land Council.

Detailed maps outlining open and closed areas can be seen here ... https://www.nlc.org.au/tidal-fishing

How far off the land does this affect.
Closing the Perons, will that mean all the way from the Perons to the mainland.
That will take a lot out of the channel point ramp fishing accessible area

NLC map attached, it appears to be just the shallow intertidal area around the Perons.

It's only for the area between the high tide and low tide so looking at it and the maps where this effects I can't see a need to ever register and I personally won't be. It is a shame about the Finniss and Little Finniss.

Looking at the map Finniss is still open except on the south side.
I think the north side of the Finniss is pastoral land.
Anyone confirm

Approx. it's only the first 5km of the Finnins can be access.
