FFF FotoFish 2020 - April Thread - with a twist
FFF FotoFish 2020 - April Thread ... post 'em up here.
Given that there are some restrictions on fishing, and may be more during April, this monthly thread can include current pix as per usual, plus nostalgia pix - eg blasts from the past.
Kicks off April 1.

A bit of a break for the young bloke from home schooling and a bit of needed social distancing from his mother & sister.

Took the daughter for a run this morning and she landed a nice Jewie.

Darted up to Cape Hotham yesterday whilst the wind was down. Very quite though and I was just about to give up after 3 hours of sharks and little red fish when the Goldies turned up. I got these 3 (50 - 52cm) in under 5 mins and then moved on.

Some great pix to start the month, especially the action shots of the jewie getting caned
Nostalgia shot here scanned off a slide, a drummer hooking into a drummer near Steep Point, Shark Bay.
That dark patch off the beach is a school of silver drummer, the locals were calling them buffalo bream.

Another nostalgia shot from Steep Point - standard cleaning setup for the big macks caught there.
Most blokes fished with balloon rigs, pilchard bait skipping around under the balloon.

I did a 3 day trip out from Shady last week, the run off seems to be finished in the coastal creeks. I did 270kms in the boat for a couple of rats, a feed of goldies & a small jewie.

If there is water and it holds fish, then it is fun trying to fool them into eating what you offer!!
Especially when you can see them!

Finally committed to using soft plastics on a offshore dangle trip. Turns out sharks will still eat them Proved that myth for myself. Not as many fish as the bait men but got some quality reefies including this my first deep water goldy.
Prince of the sea they call it over here on the peninsula
Ps so good NOT to be covered in pilchard/squid guts think I’ll persevere with the mad eyes
