East Point

Post by Young_gun_fisho »

Went out with two mates today Landbased (don't worry we were all socially distanced appropriately) for a morning fish. Gathered some livies then headed to east point rocks near the war museum. Didn't have much action for a bit, before my mate said to me "your rods getting hit" to which I turned and sure enough, the tip was bouncing around a bit. Then all in hell broke loose as it suddenly bent over and my line started peeling off into the distance, right as a bloke about 30m away hooked up to a queenie, which we saw jumping. After the initial longer run, my fish started doing short but powerful bursts with plenty of headshakes and tailbeats. First thought was "shark" but as he got closer and he hadn't bitten me off I was slightly more optimistic. A few more pumps and we saw colour, and a glorious trevally was revealed to us. After a few more seconds of madness (and my mate swimming in to grab him) we hauled him up onto the rocks. My biggest brassy to date, and as all trevally do he gave a great fight. The fish ended up being gut hooked, so my mate and I kept a fillet each as we didn't want to waste it. All in all, not too bad
