I heard about this today when ABC News radio carried it this afternoon

Airlifted to Gladstone Hospital for treatment for injuries.

NW Island is 95km (50 nautical miles) E of Yeppoon.

Bitten by a shovelnose shark, that's a first.

Lucky he wasn't gummed to death!

That's right, Matt. A shovel nosed shark/ray attack.

The Gladstone Hospital has released a statement that the man's injuries were some the worst sucks inflicted on a human that's ever been encountered by its emergency response term.

But it expects the man to make a full recovery although post traumatic stress disorder may emerge at a later time.

Geez, I'd hate to be this fella. He'll never be allowed to forget it. Sucked of the NW Island beach by a shovel nose.

Lots on sheepish people in the media here and also in southern media who didn't check the story.

Is there no hope for the Aus media to be taken seriously about anything?
