Navionics card data transfer

Post by Trapper »

G'day all, My Lowrance HDS5 packed it in & am looking to something similar 2nd hand as will be going into an older boat. Am looking at a Lowrance Elite 5 Chirp that takes a micro SD card & not the full-size one out of my old unit. Anyone know if I can transfer the data over to a micro SD via computer, or some trade-in scheme? Cheers.

yes mate very easy .if you go onto google ,type in transfering data from sd to mini sd for lowrance and there will be about 10 video clips for you to follow pick the one that suits you .i have done this for the last 3 transfers over from old to new .good luck

Al you are a humble genius because I can’t find where anyone else has managed to crack the code to match the serial number on the card to what’s in the software. I think the later Lowrance units use the micro SD (very small) rather than mini SD (small) i.e. both physically smaller than the original size. I saw a lead that Navionics uses standard SD in all those sizes (hard to buy blank ones of this type now) rather than the modern SDHC ones. So maybe this is where others have stumbled in succeeding? Do you know if your transfers were to SD or SDHC? I don’t yet have the newer unit yet to try a copied card. There is an adaptor on a ribbon cable that can be used though the chart plotter hatch can’t be closed then.

Trapper you will be able to copy over your marks and waypoints etc but not the Navionics maps card . You can ring navonics direct and they will do a trade in as I just done it for my new Simrad
