This was caught on an Arafura Bluewater Charter out at Evans Shoal years ago.
I thought it was an NT subtype of redthroat emperor but I reckon I am up sh.t creek with that ID.
Now got a fair idea what it is after looking at dozens of foters, but it does not fit the description perfectly.
Before I take a guess, maybe someone here knows what it is?

Look like a "Three Fingered Emperor " At first glance maybe .

That's what you call them in NQ Sullo?
I am thinking that is what it is, otherwise called orangespotted or yellowfinned emperor - Lethrinus erythracanthus
This one doesn't have yellow fins though but otherwise matches up perfectly.

Yep that is what most people call them around here,pretty common out the reef.
