Mmmmm... Daiwa CV's Japan domestic models (these one's come with bearing supported handles) and pimped up Daiwa Zillion's (again the ones that come with or are modified for bearing supported handles) and all reels must be upgraded to Carbontex drags. Yep prefer low profile for casting and round reels for trolling.

Ive been using a tranx 400 matched too a 7'5" zodias extra heavy for throwing big plastics at jew and barra and it is def the tool for the job. Also been running the new curado k, which is a vast improvement over the previous model ( possibly best curado ever!?)

Shimano CHRONARCH all the way!!!!!. Japanese models 100 or 200 size with erskine carbon drag 7.0 :1 Fast enough to pull lures with the current out of feeder creeks and heaps of grunt ..... smooth as too.
These reels are p!ss easy to work on and have been thrashed for a few seasons with 0 breakdowns.

One word : SHIMANO.
I used 200 curados for years but wrecked my last one on a massive jew at maningrida and am still running this old faithful :
200B Calcutta.
The boys at fishing and outdoor upgraded the drag to a leather washer. Silky smooth, every few seasons I put new spool bearings in and it goes hard still.

I got spoiled a year ago and got a Daiwa Steez for my birthday. I have had a range of baitcast reels and still own 15. there is nothing better than someone saying a school of fish is out of range and you can prove them wrong. Casts like a dream and the power through the handle is sweet. I love being able to cast a long way as well as acurately and this extremely light reel is easy to cast through an entire 9 hour lock in session. I grab the occassional Daiwa CvX Millionaire or Abu Revo and am amazed at the weight diffrence and ease of casting. Sorry I don't have too many Shimano baitcasters to compare since my Bantam died. When I tried a few friends reels I still prefered the mag controls.

What he said, I don't generally wade into the best baitcaster argument unless asked in person. However, the Daiwa Steez A is quite possibly the best light to mid range baitcaster I've laid my hands on.

I was lucky enough to get a Steez A for my bday last week and I have to agree with joe and deepblack, it's the nicest reel I've ever held. No play at all in the handle, light, solid, casts a mile and even has a 'click' noise on the drag like spin reels which I really like.
If anyone's interested in a Chronarch G with 30lb Sufux hit me up
