While travelling down the coast, I managed to catch a very nice flathead in Crystal Creek about 70km north of Townsville. Went 70cm.
I was fishing the outgoing tide, reasonably high up in the salt. A bit of surface action around - tried heaps of lures to no avail. Ended up catching this one on a Reidy's Little Lucifer. As the tide got quite low, I reckon this was the only lure I used that was getting close enough to the bottom for a strike.
Fished the gin-clear fresh water in the afternoon hoping for sooties or Jungle Perch, but could only get follows from turtles.
Still, a new PB for the day will do me!
