Latest study on global heat transport. They found that rapid climate change happened in the past without a major change in the ocean currents ... https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-017-00577-6

Many interesting points in the study, not least that as Antarctica thaws and releases cold water, it helps heat up the northern hemisphere.

Also implications for northern Australia.

There's not really any good news in that paper. Just a suggestion that it is not warming as quickly as expected. There are other studies showing that rapid climate change has happened very quickly in the past even without human CO2 forcing, and a recent study demonstrated that it has happened without major changes in the ocean currents.

Young people are taking action, they understandly don't want governments to be gambling with their future ... https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/ ... -countries

Study shot down ... https://www.theguardian.com/environment ... -105927008

Meanwhile, Antarctic ice at its lowest level ever recorded by satellites for this time of year ... http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/charc ... ice-graph/

Might be a bit of respite for a couple of years if the Vanuatu and Bali volcanoes blow in a big way.

And Trump might create a nuclear winter ...

At last we've got some movement.

Prime Minister Turncoat has had yet another thought bubble. Lets abandon the emissions target, stop subsidies and sort out the supply problems.

Hallelujah!

The only thing that's noteworthy is how long its taken to get to this stage.

Remember Footrot Flats?

Wal would start clacking the knife and sharpening stone whenever Cedric the Ram was thought to be faling down on the job.

Cedric would hear the clacking and get a new zest for life and start doing his job.

Malcolm Turncoat has heard Tony Abbot, Cory Bernardy and Pauline Hanson clacking the knife sharpener. The terrible polls have sharpened Turncoat's perception of the threat of the clacking.

The clacking noise got louder and closer being taken up by immediate supporters in the liberal cabinet.

Suddenly, Malcolm/Cedric hears the message and is prepared to do anything to stay.

An absolute bl..dy joke. Not a term you hear about an Aus prime minister since the days of Rudd/Gillard/Rudd. Disgraceful examples. Turncoat is on a par.

The tight little group of cabinet members who have clung onto Turncoat need to go as well.

A fair dinkum "pull-thru-with-a-pine-tree".

Roll on nuclear power and the demise/disappearance of the oxygen thieving greens, supporters and scientific community.

No. I'm not kidding.

There hasn't been a decent PM from either side since Howard left.

That's why voters are turning away in droves from the major parties towards Corey Bernardy and Hanson.

The mark of success isn't so much about what's accomplished. Its about how the person goes about it.

You might not agree with an outcome but can respect the person for how it was arrived at if that person takes the electorate along for the ride.

Rudd/Gillard/Rudd period was an absolute shemozzle. Keystone Cops stuff with strings being pulled by Shorten.

Abott wasn't much better . Blunder after blunder over silly things. Poor political judgement and no vision.

Enter Malcom. His claim to fame was that he came from a poor background. His dad was a poor simple merchant banker. Sure musta been tough being underprivileged like that. A grandstander. In 2016 election, he put up $1 million for the Libs so that they'd vote him back in as House of Reps party leader (PM). People have stopped listening to him and his hangers-on.

Hanson's claim to fame is that she's prepared to say what a lot of people think. That's all. No brains. No vision.

If Blackout Bill gets in, then we'll have green policies stuck down our throats as in the Rudd/Gillard/Rudd eras and the trade unions officials running rampant.

If Libs want to save Aus from the greens and blackout Bill then Malcolm's gotta go along with most of his cabinet.

I agree. Howard, Keating, Hawke, they all had direction and vision and got things done. Rudd and Gillard came to power with a huge surplus and used it to bail out the banks, then they blew the rest on hair brained schemes like the BER school projects. And we've been in debt since.

Abbot sucked and Malcolm has been a wet towel. Shorten is an opportunistic muppet, he never leads, he never has any policy to put on the table, but he is the first to pop up and ridicule the government. At best he says "me too" really well.

Australian politics has become completely inward focused, the travel rorts, SSM debate, the citizenship debacle and endless debate about how a tax on carbon can be sold to the public are proof of that. Almost every level of Australian politics in almost every city has a corruption story to tell. Anyone would think this great nation was founded with convict settlers.
