Kakadu Billabongs

Post by Dyksy »

Moirning all,

Does anyone have any info of fishing red lilly or south alligator billabongs?
Thinking of heading out there this weekend to try something different. I have a 4.2m boat that doesn't require a lot of water to move around in.
Are the fish easy enough to find there? Is it weedy? Is there even enough water in them at the moment to launch the boat? Am I wasting my time?
Going to camp out there the night.

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Dyksy

i'm also thinking about heading there this weekend.
went to red lily in mid October last year and was able to launch and retrieve my 4.6m ok. It was very weedy, i'm hoping it will be a bit clearer this year after a big wet season.

might see you there.

Hi gents
I'm told the road in from the south alligator side is absolute cr.p.

But it could mean you will have it to your selves.

Cheers

For anyone interested I fished the South alligator Friday night and early Saturday morning. Produced a few fish with them all around the 60cm size. Weren't very hard to find in the weed/Lillys but hard to entice.
Awsome little camp spot there. The road to Old Jim Jim from south Alligator is horrid. It took around 1.5hrs to do the 20km's towing a 4.25m boat.

Hit yellow water again on the saturday arvo and went fairly well again grabbing 6 size fish. And losing an absolute monster on the 3rd cast!
