we headed to our usual spots for a look, first trawl and up comes a nice barra, dropped it at the side of the boat but thought it was a great sign of the fishing ahead.
we fished that afternoon for a few missed chances, few rats and the one keeper. not all that impressive we thought for the vic, but we were still sussing out the tidal movement.
the next day up early and down to our favorite spot, which we could access this time, first trawl again, fish on, in the boat went a nice 87cm barra. things are looking good. we proceeded to bang good barra and were bagged out by around lunchtime. biggest was 90cm, my biggest was 86cm, we landed heaps in the 70's, few in the 60's and a couple above 55cm. we also found some small barras. so we decided to head back to the ramp, pull the boat out and watch the end of the AFL GF in the aircon. great day.
sunday we headed out again with the disappointment that we have to drive back to darwin in the arvo, so we fished for a few hours, landed a couple more barra, biggest went 78cm, (but didnt take a paper for the seadogs comp as Timber Creek didnt have the 1st October available yet) and we were on the road home just after lunch.
great weekend, weather was hot and around the 40 degrees mark but still bearable with some breeze about and refreshing ales to keep hydrated.
cant wait to get back there.
