not quite sure where to post this
does anyone have some good spots for throw netting some small barra for my backyard pond?
I will also buy fingerlings if anyone has them for cheap, thanks :D

Might have to check out the legal issues here mate . I would think you might get busted for taking undersized wild Barra .
How about the Barra farms they might sell you some .

Mate ive got 2 im going to let go out grown my tank had the since they were young got them at the pet shop,

They would be considered as undersized barra. Plus you also require a licence to sell and collect live to sell as aquarium fish.

is it possible to buy them off of any aquaculture places around Darwin like the hatchery at channel point or the barra farm out at adelaide river?

i gave hurleys a ring and they said they wont have any for weeks to come...

Hey man,

Go give aquagreen.com.au a crack. I know Dave sells all sorts of native fish and has barra fingerlings on his website - he's a local fella out at Humpty doo . I've met him before and he is a knowledgeable gentleman so if he doesn't have them in stock he would know who does. Specialises in native fish+invertebrates.

Yesterday, I went to Fogg dam to take some photos. This pic shows an egret and those 'bubbles' in the background are actually baby barra - millions of them. plenty of rangers around though :lol:
