We've seen it all before. How long were the F111s delayed also the Hornet. Before that the French. and before that the Poms. And Matt if your going to put up a link, please make the info current, 2014 is too old, especially with this topic.

Regards

Gagey

The F35s now being grounded because pilots are suffocating from poor oxygen delivery ... this issue was mentioned months ago, clearly not an easy fix.

What a disappointment these jets appear to be ... http://www.news.com.au/technology/innov ... 8f2480f512

Sounds like they should have just sold them to enemy countries :D

Perhaps they should have upgraded the old jets. Are the old Hornets still able to hold their own in a fight?

Post Posted: Fri Sep 22, 2017 5:54 pm    Post subject: Re: F35 problems

I saw the F35 at Avalon airshow and it looked the part. However, at the time couldn’t leave Avalon because there were storms over Brisbane and they don’t like storms.
Just one of the things they have to sort out.
Re the F18, the old F18 classics are still a very good unit and can hold their own. The F18 super hornets are amazing (about 50% larger than the classic F18) and the new F18 Growler is top of the line.
The theory is that the Growler and F35 need to work together.
The yanks have had the F35 operating for a while and they are happy, but they have heaps of $ to throw at it.
tRUMP was talking about trying to upgrade the F18 to replace the F35 because of costs. He is an idiot. Its like trying to replace an aircraft carrier with a cruiser

the F35 range is very limited but so is the F18, both need tankers to get them into action. I was surprised that the F18 has very limited time in the air under attack situations. They refuelled every hr or so on a recent refuelling flight I did with them. “that’s because they are mostly running on afterburners while they are fighting’ is what a pilot told me.

the F35 costs around $35k/hr to keep it flying while the F18 costs around $24k/hr. your taxes at work

I still think the F35 will bring home the goods - but at a massive cost. the yanks are upgrading theirs all the time. everytime we do it, money money money
