Fish the drains on the outgoing tide. Sometimes the barra are about and sometimes not. The little rock patches at the mouth of Woods hold a fish or two at low tide, and can be trolled on neap tides.
As you go up Woods at low tide it will get too shallow, you'll soon work it out. Week days best, fewer boats.
The rocks around Talc Head have barra on the calm side, and there is a gutter through the mudflat near Talc Head that has barra and prawns.

As the tide drops out of the mangroves you'll see barra hiding in the baby mangrove patches (and hard up on the edge of them.) Fish weedless plastics at this stage of the tide

Buy the latest fishfinder mag . That'll get u planning your next trip n probably save a few bucks in boat damage from a hitting few rocks or worse a semi submerged wreck.

With the new Kenbi land claims, those rocky grounds now appear to be out of bounds. Is that right?Matt Flynn wrote:The rocks around Talc Head have barra on the calm side, and there is a gutter through the mudflat near Talc Head that has barra and prawns.

Map says you can fish Talc Head at high tide. But if you fish outside the intertidal zone, I suspect you would be OK at a lower tide. An uncertain business.

Under the maps we were provided doing commercial survey work Talc head mud flats ect, Platter rock and the other shoal ( cant think of the name off the top of my head) are all under Kenbi claim and supposed to be a no go zone now. Its cr.p because platter and the other shoal are drying rocks 500m out to sea! It opens up a complete can of worms. Its not even attached to the coast line in any way.dannett wrote:With the new Kenbi land claims, those rocky grounds now appear to be out of bounds. It says on the NLC site that Talc Head can be fished at high tide.
If you are fishing gutters coming off the flats off the edge of the intertidal zone you should be OK.
Definitions of high tide and intertidal zone are of course rubbery.
Also, "Kenbi areas" can likely be fished by the Kenbi mob and anyone who gets permission from the Kenbi mob.
A can of worms it is.
