I reckon the MG has an fantastic spot lock function and I use it a fair bit for anchoring for fishing. I was at the perons the other night and my spare anchor just would not hold in the deep channel. We thought about using the MG spotlock and sleep on the mark with the anchor alarm on. Even thought about using the anchor and MG together.
After an hour of deliberation we thought it be more safer to anchor up in the sallow bay. Just to many boat around that we drift into.
Anyone trust their electronic motor to anchor up overnight.
Who uses there spot lock to anchor overnights.

nah wouldn't trust the leccy to hold overnight. plus it would kill the batts
get a proper anchor and learn how to set it properly ie 3 x the depth
I try to anchor up in flat water which usually has a muddy bottom so the reef anchors wont hold as well as a mud one.
then get a winch - you will never look back

Haha we lost the good anchor during the day and only had a dodgy big mud anchor as back up. Sitting about 15 meters and had 50-60 -70 meter out . The chain was heavy enough and long enough but keep drifting in 4-5 m run.
I have a winch so no worried about maximum line out.
Might need to invest on 2 good anchors.
MG had no problems holding the 6 m boat though.
