I'm interested to know... From all the fish caught in the classic and nationals every year, how many people have caught tagged fish in the Daly? Is it common? There must be a thousand fish tagged and released in there every year, the people I have asked that have fished there a lot and caught a lot of fish say not many... I am surprised how many of the fish in the MDB comp get caught considering there are only 100 territory wide... But good on those that do and I'll be having a crack myself!!!

Hi Skotty,
I do fish the Daly Regularly.
Between 3 of us, we probably average 2 or 3 Tags a Year.
Caught 1, last weekend Down there.
We have even managed to Catch the same fish Twice.
The first time, was about 6 - 8 Weeks apart, and I think the Location, was about 15 kms apart.
The Second time, was 2 Weeks apart, in the Same location.

It would be nice to know, what percentage of fish, are recaptured, and Time frames.
I have not heard of a Tagged Fish, ever being Caught, during 1 of the Comps, but I would think it has happened a few times.

Ok that's good to know... I've just been struggling to get my head around the odds of getting any of the released fish for the MDB comp... The thing that reduces the odds I guess is that they will go back to exactly where they are caught once they're released again?

Yeah I am amazed again that MDB tags are getting caught. Blown away by the odds and the quantity that are turning up.

More will be caught, last year's MDF showed the possibilities and this time there are even more fish.

There are 101 fish in Season 2. Minus 2 fish caught so far = 99 left :)

Barramundi stand up to tagging well, perfect fish for a comp like this.
