Gomoku setup recommendation

Talk about the gear you can't afford and knots you can't tie.

Gomoku setup recommendation

Post by LancePants »

Hi guys,

New to the forum, so go easy on me please. :bonk:

Looking at buying a gomoku rod to get into jigging. Currently have a Curado 200HG (with 30lb Fins braid) and a Saragosa 6000SW (with 40lb Depth Hunter braid). At this stage I am wanting to use one of these reels on the gomoku but just wanting to hear from people who are using these rods to gauge whether its a good idea or not, or if I should spend the extra money to get something else.

All recommendations are welcome!

Cheers,
LP

it depends how deep the water will be that you are jigging, but of those two reels i would recommend the curado, if gomoku make overhead rods. Mainly because the retrieve ratio 7.2:1 would lend to a better jigging action compared to the slow but powerful action of the gosa.

The curado would be ok but the gosa would be way to big,a 3000 size would be better. The gosa would go well on the jig rod that is for sale on the forum,it's a good buy at $80,i think they were over $250 new

3000 or 4000 size spin reel on the blue gomoko. 20lb or 30lb line should be all you need

Mate I have been using a 3000 sized Stradic CI4 on my 1-1.5PE Gomoku rod for a year now and it has produced the goods. I got the combo from Craig's and it's been awesome. Have a look at my posts and we have stopped mackies, queenies, goldies, tuna, trout, jewies and a heap of other fish on it.

Fishing And Outdoor world have had new Gomoku rods made with slightly larger eyelets, the standard ones eyes are tiny and it can be difficult for you leader knot to get through.
I have one of these with a 3000 stradic and i love it,
Lumbo,

If i'm too drunk to walk I'll rock the party on crutches...
