Round ball for the butt of rods (instead of gimbal)- where?

Talk about the gear you can't afford and knots you can't tie.

Round ball for the butt of rods (instead of gimbal)- where?

Post by theodosius »

I'm trying to find the big foam balls you can put on the butt of your rod. I've got bruises on my belly from my North Gutter trip and wouldn't mind having something softer on the rod butt. Not keen on using a gimbal. Cheers

I first used them on the Nomad charter chasing big GT's. they used the big ones but were great but a pita casting with them. you can slip them on and off each time but thats a pita as well

i picked up a small one from Craigs and it should be ok for what we have up here. its ok to cast with as well

I saw a couple at the Tackle Box at Palmerston the other day, if you're out that way

I have started using t-bars and find them quite comfortable and convenient.

No, I ordered a couple from jrocproduct online. They sell two different sizes to suit different size rod gimbals (22-27mm and 28-33mm). I have rods of both sizes so bought one of each.

let us know how they work.
Ive used the cush-it balls and they are great, the big ones make it hard to cast but work well. the small ones allow for long casting and they give a bit of support

I have only used mine bottom bouncing and after hooking up trolling at this stage. They are quick and easy to snap on and off but snug enough not to fall off.
Overall I am pleased with the purchase at this stage but haven't had the chance to use it a great deal yet (one trip).

Next outing I will test the feasibility of casting with the T-Bar in situ and let you know.
