Help with minn kota

Post by COOPS »

Hi all,

I'm borrowing a mates boat at the moment. It's got a minn kota I pilot rip tide electric on it.

If you turn the remote on it the screen turns on, stays on for five seconds and then turns off. I thought it was a flat battery so replaced it. It does the same thing...

Any ideas, I've never used one before. My mates out of range so can't get him either.

The electric motor has to be hooked up to the battery and in the down position otherwise the remote turns itself off to save battery power.

I reckon Meter Maid is on the money. It also says not to run the motor unless its in the water. Give it a test the next time you launch

Coops, if it is the ST model the motor has to be in the deployed position to power up too. The SP (earlier version) should be powered all the time.

Seen this problem before. Not saying that this is the fix this time but try the following:

Re-learn the remote to the electric.

Out of curiosity, which of the tips did the trick. Nice to know for next time something like this happens.
