Both MK and MG will be releasing a 72 inch shalf this year . I read it on the net and Michael rang both manufacturers to confirm it happening.

The MG shalf upgrade from 60 to 72 is a 10min job done locally but the MK will be a very expensive exercise and need to be sent interstate. The MK head is weld together and wires need extending while the MG is screwed and the wiring is already long enough.

This why I went the MG over the MK because I think the 60 inch will cavitate in chop.

Love my minn kota, spot lock works great, you just need to ease up to your mark and press the anchor once

Yep agree guys, I have put my MG on anchor a few times while moving quite fast around the blue holes, sometimes in pretty good tidal flows, it always takes you back to the spot :-)

Might have to go look at the 3 blade prop as well,

80lb MG held my 580 tommahawk with ease at Dundee with a 4.5m run. It was glass out most of the day but there was bit of cavitation with a bit chop early in the day but had no problem holding. Diffinietely upgrade to 72 shalf when available .

Macks, long tail in plague numbers ,Jews and goldies in good numbers also.

Just bumping this after the recent demise of my Minn Kota. (Don't ask!).

Have most of the reliability issues on the MG Ben sorted now? Is the 72" shaft out yet? If so, I reckon I'll go the MG for sure. Better spot lock and jog and HDS link sell it for me. Just don't want to get something that dies in a year or so.

Club Marine. Haven't got the claim processed yet, but they seemed pretty good about it. First time I made a claim.

Ah ok... I use TIO, but have never had to claim yet. It's nice to know how various companies treat a claim though [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

Kaos364 I've been with TIO since time began and since the take over by Alliance, I believe that Club Marine have taken over all boat insurance policies that were through TIO... Pretty sure. Anyone else able to confirm... I just recently got CM membership card in the mail due to my policy with TIO / Alliance...
