Killing cormorants to save fish

Post by Matt Flynn »

The theory goes that Tasmania had a significant decline in the overall trout population two or three years back because of an influx of cormorants from the mainland.

Apparently they breed up after wet years on the mainland and then spread far afield.

There has been lots of talk of killing the cormorants, but no official action was taken.

Not so in the USA ... http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-new ... r-program/
