Home made assist hooks

Post by Lats »

Saw this clip on Facebook showing how to make your own assist hooks and decided to give it a crack. I also pimped them up a bit. Only time will tell but if I can get them past the mackerel, these bad boys might tempt a few coral trout. Attach them to small metals and bounce them along the bottom 8)

I make these! Not assist hooks but blingy hooks for bottom bashing and the trout and goldies love them.

Love the idea of pimped up assist hooks! Thanks for sharing!

It has always been my private conviction that any man who pits his intelligence against a fish and loses has it coming.

Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.

Wow Jewie Queen, they look great

I had a similar idea for jigging for mackerel Lats but I use some white Crystal Flash I stole off a mate who ties flies....it all got chewed off by fish so it definitely worked!

They look awesome JQ. Today I pimped up some Reidy's jigs with single strand wire assist hooks for the razor gang. Might be about time for a water test I think

Put a glow bead above the hook. Your catch will double in deeper water.
