Found out last night that my current head lamp does not cut the mustard at all.
So suggestions for a replacement that can be purchased locally less than $100 if possible.

Re: Head lamp suggestions
Either of the 'led lenser' lights are great
H7.2 is fantastic and lasts a long time.
H 14 is very powerful but drains the batteries quickly.
Dont get the integrated battery pack.
i used rechargables for a long time but they dont last as long as duracell batts.
wait till coles etc have the batts on special - get a 20 pack for $15 or less

The little Lenser that uses 3AAA batteries is good and can be bought for around $50.........Not as bright as the one that uses AA's but lasts a lot longer.

I just got a little Colman one from the NT General Store. $20 and it works great. Has red and bright white LEDs uses 2 AAA and lasts for ages.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll pop over to the NT General Store at lunch to see what they have.

Go the h7 led senor.
I use head torches alot for work.
They are in my opinion the duck guts.
The adjustments from broad beam great for close up work or walking the the narrow beam works great for looking further head or needing a direct light. The distance it gives will surprise you. The ability to adjust the brightness just from the dial on the battery pack is also effective. Its a pain to try and push small buttons.
As mentioned use the 3 aaa battery opions. So much easier to replace as needed. Plus harder to get court out with flats batteries. Just replace.

Second callmejoe's comments. Get a couple of H7s online for less than $100 or locally for a bit more. They can do 200 lumens when you need it and be dialled down to any brightness and beam width. Had mine for a few years and still going strong.
Forget the Colemans, Petzl and other brands unless you need a non adjustable dim light.
