Excellent stuff, mate. Reminds me of my time in the East Kimberley looking for water holes for the Main Roads Dept. Walked and swam most of the Mary River from Lamboo Stn to the Hwy Crossing in the late 60s and early 70s.
Cheers, bobj.

Fair distance that one, would have been good country to go through. Could only find the station named as Old Lamboo on the map. Most of Lamboo is leased out to neighbors now, Robyn Yeeda has kept a bit of country for himself to run some cattle on.

Goodoh, thanks for that.

Ever been up on top of Middle Springs? There are about 7 small waterfalls and pools stretching over a kilometre. Never tried to fish any of the pools, though.

Yeah been up there once. Can't remember thinking there was fish in them but you never know. There's a mob of grunters in Andy's Chasm and that's on top if a bit of a waterfall. Always wonder exactly how they got into there

When the Main Roads Dept was building the abuttments to the new (1970) bridge over the Dunham River, I went looking for water, again...This time I found the original site of the Dunham R Stn. It was just a couple of rammed earth floors set in river cobbles. There were a couple, or 3 grave headstones. One of the foundations had lots of pieces of wire, iron hoops etc and a number of mineral specimens that the Duracks had collected in and around the Carr Boyds and other places. There was also the remains of a well that was about 3 metres deep.
I often wonder if the Kununurra, or Wyndham Historical Society has cleaned up the site?
Cheers, bobj.

One newer on now built in 2006 with mod cons like two lanes. The Bow and about five others are still single lane between Kununurra and Halls Creek. I could check with the society to see if they did something about the place. Where was it? Some of those river flats at Kingston's Rest are all under a tree crop now.

Bugga!! Didn't know they built another bridge...(1968 the low level crossing got washed away and I spent a day pulling stranded motorists across a pool on the downstream side...Got my R send kicked by the boss for not doing my job...Bloke came in the office to thank the Divi engineer, my boss, for putting a bloke at the crossing to pull people through!!!)

Had a squiz on Google Earth and, from memory, the best I can do is -16.153050, 128.371536

Or, 16 deg 9' 9.71"S 128deg 22'.17.50"E

I'm down that way a bit, got a bit of work on Lissadell over the dry, I'll look at having a squiz and let you know what I come up with. Place usually gets burnt out around August, should be not too hard to find on a quad bike with luck

Thanks, mate. From memory, it was about 1 km downstream, north bank from the old low level crossing and about 50 metres up from the river margins.
Cheers, bobj.
