One of the things I’ve I noticed with my Kookaburra’s, is I can move their bodies & their head remains motionless. I can wobble them, and their head remains motionless.
Check out the slo-mo video I have posted of Bitey coming in to land on the veranda.
Even though his wings & body are going in all directions, his head is completely lock on to his landing spot.
This is called “Head Tracking”. It’s interesting to note that not all birds have it.

Re: Head Tracking
Nomad, check out how doves & pigeons walk.
A little know fact is that birds can't move their eyes.
When I looked into it, it starts to getting confusing? Different birds have different adaptations for this & for different reasons. And it's not that flying birds can do this & ground birds do that.
Anyway, this I thought was interesting
