Indian island
Hey guys thinking of heading to Indian island to chase some snapper. Where would be the best place to launch. Some say off fog dam road. Has anyone been there lately?

6 Pack Creek Boat Ramp, Barramundi Drive at Dundee Downs.
Fog Dam Road might be a bit far away. You'll end up in the Adelaide River.

Anywhere south side of Bynoe will give you easy access through fairly sheltered waters, assume you didn't meant Fog Dam road.

Re: Indian island
Do yourself a favour, buy the fish finder book at any tackle shop or good news agent.
It the bible volkoff. There's some serious sand bars. We do well for snapper at the very top of indian is. Unjin pnt. Either early early am or on dusk.
Launch six pack creek (barramundi drv) about 2.8mtr minimum low tide for a 4.5mtr boat. Can be slippery lock in hubs or you'll be in the drink. Watch for resident that hangs around evening.
Good luck mate, its great fishing there

I have the book and have been reading it. Most direction it takes me on cox peninsular road then fog dam then barramundi drive. 4 hours to get there. I was certain it didn't take that long.

Re: Indian island
The ramps are off the Fog Bay Rd - doesn't take 4 hours from Darwin unless you are on a pushbike!

Re: Indian island
My young bloke has ben fishing the creeks down the bottom of Bynoe, launching at 6 pack and spending the night on the change of the tide.
Returns with rock cod, jacks, grunter and snapper every trip….no wonder he doesn't come with me anymore

Re: Indian island
Was down that way today, road works happening ATM at the second set of dirt, however no delays.
boat ramp (turn off at sandy palms) useable above 2.5 mtrs and only 14.75km to bottom of Indian Is from there. Have caught really good snapper 60cm plus up at the top of indian but only after dark on a run in tide 1st Quarter moon and on a new moon. Use a extended paternoster with at least 40-50cm from bottom hook to sinker and stuff pillies in squid tube for best results on a 6/0 (by catch have been jewies).
Heading there on Saturday to restock my snapper and jewie supply

Hey volkoff
Keswick is a great ramp at any tide the big boondies have been cleared and makes a great ramp on any tide ,yep any tide .Take a left just after the bitty ends there use to be a sign there that said boat ramp ,haven't been there a while so not sure bout the sign. but i know if you go to far you end up at the rank point pearl farm, half way down that road hang a right then through a dip or 2 then left at the top of the hill and then you will see the car park with a make shift ramp .out the front is a place called the keyhole a steep drop-off all most in the middle of the harbour caught some good goldies there and lots of jewys,oh and don't forget to try the wreck on the opposite side of the harbour big jewys on there.
Cheers And all the best

Re: Indian island
Went there today, fished the waypoints on page 158 on Fff. Also went up north towards fish reef. Then headed Back to the mouth of Indian island. The most northern part. I think. All I got was one bull shark and a little trevally. Tried gulps and hardbacks and squid.
Also launched off barramundi road. Ramp wasn't to bad. Bit choppy and some wind but just couldn't find the fish. Another think my cheap fish Finder has poop itself. So I'm looking for a new one. So nice day out but no fish.
Cheers guys

Re: Indian island
Might have had better luck Volkoff launching off Fog Dam road as you suggested earlier. Better to go with someone the first trip to get a good understanding of the place. My fly fisho mates have been having a good time of it on the flats on the lows of around 2.3 m and above.
