Homesick Aussie, G'day from Botswana - Africa

Post by crush »

Hi guys,

Im originally from Gove (30yrs) my home base now is rural Darwin - 10 mins from Berry Springs boat ramp (7yrs) & Im currently living and working in Botswana (2yrs).
The NT is calling me back, Im getting keen to come home and I will need to get a new boat to replace my sweet little Stacer Mantaray 455 I sold when I left.
Ive been doing a bit of research into a new boat which is how I stumbled upon this great forum!

BH Marine have a Sea Jay Console tropic 5.35 that I really like, they have it powered by a Honda BF75.
From researching Ive found the Honda BF90 is the same motor as the 75, the Sea Jay 5.35 specs say the max HP is 80Hp.

Is this boat a good bang for buck all-rounder?
Will it handle the BF90?

Cheers

Hey mate I have the 09 model and I use it for everything, barra to blue water, overnight trips, never had any dramas with the hull or engine. I was talking to George at nt unique about re powering my boat and he reckons the 90 would be fine, he could even get a 115 on there and drop seating capacity. The 75 though is a sweet engine well suited to the boat, she's no speed boat but I don't need to do over 65kms an hour. I repropped mine, fitted a hydrofoil and getting onto the plane she's awesome and still has a good top speed (60kms roughly). If you haven't bought one when you get back send me a pm and I'll take you out for the day. Only thing I would recommend upgrading is the fuel tank, I only hold 90l so on bigger trips I have to take some Jerry's.
Cheers
