Dundee Fishing in the Backyard

Post by Dundee Hombre »

I managed to get out to Dundee on Saturday and I checked out the ramp in the afternoon as I do being a keen fisho. Anyway I saw evidence of the tide coming into the parking area from the debris from the day before so I went back at 6.45pm just before high tide that night. The tide was around 8.06 metres and the NT BOM had predicted higher than usual high tides; they weren’t wrong. The ocean was quite violent and the waves were actually crossing onto the land and pushing water inland by 200 m. There were properties flooding on both sides of Balanda Drive near the Lodge.

The tide was crossing the road and coming inland. The first picture of the tide crossing Balanda Drive was at the start, the second is when I recrossed it going back home.

Basically the first five or six properties on the seaward side of Balanda near the Lodge were flooded by the tide, they all had waves crashing over the beach front covering their lawns. The Sunday evening tide was higher, not sure what happened Sunday as I went home that afternoon.
Not sure that the Dundee beachfront blocks are worth over $500,000 now.

Did I say that the tractors wern't working?

that water looks mean, thanks for the pics Dundee Hombre

Cant wait till it calms a bit and can get out, fishing should be great
If there is water and it holds fish, then it is fun trying to fool them into eating what you offer!!

Especially when you can see them!
