OK all you boat electric guru guys I need some help and advice.

I have recently installed and engine interface to run all the engine stats digitaly through the HDS unit, now my question is do I need any of the wiring from the old analouge guages at all, and can I cut them all off and wrap them in electrical tape? I have found that one of the wires from the ignition alarm was connected to the old Taco plug (as seen in the photo below top left wire on plug). The purple in negative and is an easy cut and re-join but what wire do I need to connect the other wire (light greyish) to to get the engine alarm function to work as normal????




Also these are the old wires from all the old anolouge guages, can these all be trimmed off neat and wrapped in tape?

Hey mate i recomend you leave the gauges there , for one your gauges have your warning lights in there eg oil light, temp light etc etc. and secondly if for any reason your sounder stops working you will still have your gauges working , plus you wont have your gauges clogging up your screen for the more important things like finding good fishing spots.

I dont have room on the console for the old guages now, plus I dont want to use them now as I have the engine interface hooked up. Good point about the warning lights though, I didn't give them much thought until now.
