Hey Doug

Just a quick couple of questions

What type of fish are in the bait schools the billfish generally feed on and how big are they.

Seems as though almost everyone up there just fishes mullet or gar and no lures. Is that right?

Does Dean Butler fish the comp?
Not sure mate can't say I recognise the name ?

I do, and his name might still be mud after he cut a Juvenille Black and a couple of Sails up for teaser baits in Exmouth and then tried to defend it by saying baits were hard to come by and it's not like Marlin are rare........ In his column in Bluewater no less. We don't need experts like that, don't know what he was thinking. Yeah we kill fish for food and bait, but Marlin?!? Really?!? :? Not an issue if you really want to eat one but necking one for bait is a bit over the top.

Yeah mate not a lot of people tow just lures like pakula has some do but not solely they will normally have baits out
The bait varies from small white bait that's a few inches long to sardines that are 4 to 5 inches long and the larger bait the jelly bean tuna of about 300mm to 500mm
We don't get any slimy type mackerel baits schools like down your way but baits bait I guess
I think a charter operator got 2 blacks last week trolling just pushers in a few hours !
Send us a PM if ya wanna have a chat at all and I will try and help with anything I can. .

Looks like everyone had a hard time getting fish in to the boat
I couldn’t repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder.” - Steven Wright

"If you want to maintain a sustainable supply of fish you have to farm the fish, rather than mine them. So putting your money into fishing fleets that are going to exacerbate the problem by over-fishing is not the way to preserve the underlying asset."
Maurice Strong
